The current Member for Dickson, Peter Dutton, has lost sight of our community. He has been consumed by the culture of entitlement within our major parties, where corporate donors are more important than our community, and division and political rhetoric is prioritised over an inclusive connected society.

  • In 2008 he boycotted the bipartisan national apology to the Stolen Generation.
  • In 2015 he joked about the impact of climate change on the Pacific Islands.
  • In 2017 he criticised business leaders speaking out in support of marriage equality.

Dutton’s parliamentary voting record is atrocious. On many different occasions he has voted against the best interests of Dickson, against our small business owners, against the very people that he is employed to represent.

  • Dutton voted against increasing trade unions’ power in the workplace.
  • Dutton voted against increasing funding for University education.
  • Dutton voted against increasing consumer protections.
  • Dutton voted against plain packaging for cigarettes.
  • Dutton voted against restricting donations to political parties.
  • Dutton voted against penalty rates for workers.
  • Dutton voted against protecting Australia’s fresh water supplies.
  • Dutton voted for increasing his own salary.
  • Dutton voted against increasing the aged pension.
  • Dutton voted for privatising public assets.
  • Dutton voted against restricting foreign ownership.
  • Dutton voted against removing children from immigration detention.
  • Dutton voted against a Mineral Resources Rent Tax.
  • Dutton voted against marine conservation and our Great Barrier Reef.
  • Dutton voted for unconventional gas mining.
  • Dutton voted against Aboriginal land rights.
  • Dutton voted for live animal exports.

Dutton has failed in doing his job – representing us. So at this next election, let’s do our job and replace him with a person who will put our community’s future first.
